16 weeks to Christmas!!!

I can't believe it's the 31st of August today, 16 more weeks to Christmas!!

I was reading some of post on Facebook from my friends back home in Malaysia yesterday. It was a quick glance through whilst I was having breakfast. It seems like they had a good time celebrating Hari Raya ( Eid Mubarak). With all the pictures and post about visiting and food, I felt suddenly quite sad as I would like to be there for a change and join in the festivities, not mentioning the FOOD, FOOD FOOD!!. It seems like it's been many years since I had participated in any of the Malaysian Celebrations and IT IS. In the past 12 years since I came into the UK, I think I only managed to go home twice for Chinese New Year before my paternal grandmother passed away. I've not been back for any of the other celebrations at all.

Today, has been another down day for me. It's the Malaysian Independence Day Celebration and I have always told myself- this year you need to take a day off but I have never managed to. The last time I celebrated the day was 13 long years ago! Maybe I should make more of an effort from next year onward....

On the upside, I have a lot to be thankful for in life. It's 12 weeks to Christmas. I've been busy. Recently, my boys and me was camping in beautiful Cornwall for 2 weeks. We had great weather. There were so many family members and friend who joined us on the trip and it was great. I haven't been slacking tho... as I am quite determined to crack on with my side stuff... I was busy beading daisy chain necklaces, anklets and bracelets till I ran out of beads. It was only a trial but I got quite a few of them to bring back with me. I've also started to crochet a case for a pillow but I really need to get a start on my mystery blanket as I am really really behind. I should have started knitting it 6 months ago.

So now, I have a lined up a few places to go with Wendy and sell our hard work, earn some money back for it. This is because we are targeting towards the Christmas market.

To see out available products, please e-mail me at: loveyourqi@btinternet.com and I'll send you pictures of what we have in stock.
Or, alternatively please visit me at: www.loveyourqi.co.ok and sign up to our mailing list. The website has been altered accordingly and is still under construction to sell our products.

I will be quite busy for the next few weeks as I need to string as much as I can to get a decent stock for display during craft fairs.

If there is anything you want, please drop me a line, text or ring me and I will see if I can help in any way.

Till the next time.....

CUPPING THERAPY

Hello, Everyone

It's been a long long time since my last post.
Since then I have been quite busy, trying to do stuff, fit clients in according to my work schedule.

As some of you may well know, I have started stringing jewelleries as well.
All these takes time but it's been quite nice to do something different.
My hunk, Ian has been my faithful assistant sometimes helps me to string some bracelet, maybe it's relaxing for him too although he does mourn the loss of space on the dining table aka my workshop. We never use the table for eating anyway, it was space for him to paint his little figures and the boys use it too for that purpose when they come over. Either that or to be used  to set up for a war game.
My collection of plastic containers has grown as I went along- mainly to fit my gemstones, finding and ready made stuff.
I've got a table at a little place in September to sell my stuff. Apparently my hobby has rubbed off on Wendy (Ian's sister) and she is doing jewelleries with swarowski crystals. I am glad I have someone to share my obsession with as she is like an elder sister to me as mine is too far away to meddle with my stuff and correct me as I go along.

So now, QI is not only for holistic therapies but also for selling jewelleries. Someone is having a look into my website and will try to incorporate both holistic, selling my stuff online, etc etc.... all these are too complicated for me to do so Gareth has kindly suggested to sort it out for me. Yippee....

On the therapies front, I am still building up. Cromford is still a bit slow at the moment, I think it's because it's a nice small village and with holistic therapies- there will always be competition. My little clinic there is still going for my faithful followers whom I am so happy to see every 4-5 weeks. Anything else in-between, they are always happy to travel out to see me.
Derby site is another matter, I absolutely love Ian and Jess who runs nutrition first.  I now wished I had met the a lot sooner. They are happy with me ( I hope) and I am very happy to go in when I need to. They have really promoted me when they can, so fingers crossed things will get better soon. Jess always plies me with protein bars to keep my energy up and I tell you, she is one of the fittest muscular lady I know apart from Sue (the boxer - I endeavour to try and attend her boxing circuit class every Wednesday in my bid to lose some flab and tone up) and Lilian (my old time classmate).

I am proud to announce as from July 2011, I have also started doing cupping therapy/massage. I have seen positive results won my clients and on those who were not keen on their first introductory session, they have re-booked on it again as it has helped them to start doing their various activities again. The only downside with the therapy is that they do leave some marks/bruise depending on how it was performed. Some of my clients finds it funny and has described it as  'the roundworm marks'.
One of my male clients had even texted me 'Mrs Pain, Can I book in for more pain with your cups please?'  to which I take it as a compliment and assume that he had started running again whilst he was on holiday.

If anyone else wants to try these, please mail/text me to book in.

Till the next time....

THAI FOOT MASSAGE

INTRODUCTION TO THAI FOOT MASSAGE

Thai Foot Massage was originally practiced in the Wat Po (Temples) by Buddhist Monks whose knowledge has been handed down over many generations.  It is available almost everywhere in Thailand and is seen as a preventative therapy for good health.
Thailand has evolved as a centre for massage, partly due to geographical location and partly to the peoples' predisposition towards massage, with traditional techniques from India and China diverging in Thailand to give us Traditional Thai Massage and Thai Foot Massage.
Thai Foot Massage is a complete holistic treatment, energizing and invigorating massage of the lower legs and feet. It involves hands-on stretching, working on and to ‘open’ the Sen Lines (Energy lines.)and along with the use of a stick to stimulate the reflex points on the feet which corresponds to internal organs of the body.   This treatment helps to open up the energy lines throughout the body balancing and harmonizing the flow of energy all around the body.

It helps to detoxify your body, invigorates your spirit and increases energy levels
Thai Foot Massage is a blessing for those weary and tired feet.
Thai Foot Massage is really unlike any other in giving a sense of ‘walking on air’ and naturally uplifting vitality. As it combines relaxing effleurage strokes with revitalising Yoga stretches and targeted reflexology points, you can expect to walk away from the session feeling ‘on top of the world’. It achieves this by stimulating any blocked and stagnant energy and transforming it into a boost of positive rejuvenation.
Thai Foot Massage is especially recommended for the warm summer days, after a long day of shopping, as it promotes a sense of refreshing harmony.

What is involved in Thai Foot Massage?

A Treatment in Thai Foot Massage lasts for approximately one hour.  During your treatment your Therapist will work on your lower legs and feet, so there is no need to undress, just remove your socks and shoes.  It is advised that you wear loose fitting trousers or a skirt.
Your Thai Foot Massage will begin by your Therapist refreshing your feet. Cream or oils are then applied to your lower feet and legs.  A range of techniques that involves stretching, massage, thumb pressure will be used, plus the use of a Thai stick carved from sustainable teak to stimulate organ reflex points on the soles of the feet.  This unique blend of techniques clears Sen Lines (Energy lines) clearing blockages, releasing toxins, stress, tension and pain from the whole body.
An invigorating balm will be used prior to your feet and legs being wrapped in towels as part of this invigorating treatment.  Choice of Green or Jasmine tea and aftercare advice will be offered at the end of the treatment to further enhance the cleansing effects of this detoxifying treatment.  You will leave your treatment feeling relaxed, balanced and refreshed.
Regular treatments are recommended as a preventative measure, promoting balance, increased energy levels, detoxification, improved health and well being.

My Qualifications

I apologize that I've not updated since September 2010!!... Wow, where has the time gone?
During that time, I was prepping to do my Level 4 in Sports Massage after having passed my Level 3 and was very busy with it as I had to do so many practical events and case studies hours, not forgetting the hundreds of hours I put into my portfolio.
I had since done the exam about 8 weeks ago, having passed my theory on the spot after doing something that the examiner said not many people knows about it or does it and IT WAS GOOD! then I had to sit down for the theory examination which was quite tough as I had brain block by then after being so nervous about the practical exam... the adrenaline rush had abated by then and i felt so trembly and wobbly...I am still waiting the whole results from ITEC, will they get the move on please!

I might say since I started with the initial course of Swedish Massage, I had not stopped and went full on with the rest that I had done.. Now on reflection, I am amazed and I keep thinking I don't know why and how I did so many  courses in such a short space of time. The initial reason for doing it was because I was/ and still am pretty much bored with Nursing and was getting a bit restless. I wanted to do something else for a change, something that I could practice and do it legally...
Amongst my knitting/ crochet which was a hobby, I wanted something that I could get some income on to supplement my reduced hours from nursing and I am now proud to to say I have achieved some and beyond what I expected.

I had recently rang a holistic place in Belper after having seen the advertisement for rooms to rent for therapies. Having spoken to the 'Owner' of the place, I had decided not to pursue it. It was my second call to her. The first had ended with her 'snobbily' telling me that she has quite a few therapist offering similar treatments that I am offering, which was fair enough ( I wished she stopped there tho..) but I didn't really appreciate the rest of the conversation.. (better left unsaid!). Needless to say, I politely terminated the conversation as soon as I could. As I live in Belper, I frequently pass by her centre. I would often stop by to see her leaflet stand which had declining leaflet about her therapists at an alarming rate. So, feeling cheeky I decided to check up on her previously advertisement in rent and found it was still going. I rang ( of course) and spoke to Madam again, she was keen this time for me to meet up with her. I politely asked about rental etc and found that she wanted nearly half of my earnings (whether if she booked the clients for me or if it was my own sourced clients + rent)!!! That was ok by me to continue with the conversation till she asked me :

- What was my expectations from her and her centre -> to which I replied, NONE, I just wanted to find out if it was viable for me to rent a room from her!

-What was my expectations of myself and how I was going develop myself over the next few months -at this point I thought, why am I having this conversation with her when I have repeatedly told her I had achieved more and beyond what I expected! And I have more CPD points as a Therapist, and not  having to do anymore for the next 5 years! My aims were and still is to recoup the money spent on all my courses!!!

So I decided to end the conversation politely by telling her I will be in touch if I am still interested. But, she told me that she was interested and could I please submit it in writing the reasons I want to rent a room and to also include the answers to the 2 questions above and when can I meet up with her to discuss the starting date! Well, I was a bit gobsmacked at that AND I haven't contacted her since! The centre is still there, no new therapist added.....

I now am happy to say that I have a Saturday clinic at Cromford when I have enough clients booked in, it is an osteopath Centre and the owner of the place is really nice. Rent is reasonable.  There is no pressure for me to go every Saturday. I haven't had to write any letters or answer any silly questions. Jo will refer client to me and likewise I will do the same...The cost of setting up there is more that what I had expected but I think of it as an investment. I am also looking into a room rental in Derby so
In the meantime, I am also looking of ways of generating income into the household.. I am dabbling in Jewelleries, hoping to sell when I have enough stock.. please see my other blog on dibble dabble...

I will be looking at doing leaflet drops and contacting a few people on advertisement.

I am proud to include my qualifications so far as listed! ITEC will you please get your skates on coz I need to add another qualification on my list!!!
