My Qualifications

I apologize that I've not updated since September 2010!!... Wow, where has the time gone?
During that time, I was prepping to do my Level 4 in Sports Massage after having passed my Level 3 and was very busy with it as I had to do so many practical events and case studies hours, not forgetting the hundreds of hours I put into my portfolio.
I had since done the exam about 8 weeks ago, having passed my theory on the spot after doing something that the examiner said not many people knows about it or does it and IT WAS GOOD! then I had to sit down for the theory examination which was quite tough as I had brain block by then after being so nervous about the practical exam... the adrenaline rush had abated by then and i felt so trembly and wobbly...I am still waiting the whole results from ITEC, will they get the move on please!

I might say since I started with the initial course of Swedish Massage, I had not stopped and went full on with the rest that I had done.. Now on reflection, I am amazed and I keep thinking I don't know why and how I did so many  courses in such a short space of time. The initial reason for doing it was because I was/ and still am pretty much bored with Nursing and was getting a bit restless. I wanted to do something else for a change, something that I could practice and do it legally...
Amongst my knitting/ crochet which was a hobby, I wanted something that I could get some income on to supplement my reduced hours from nursing and I am now proud to to say I have achieved some and beyond what I expected.

I had recently rang a holistic place in Belper after having seen the advertisement for rooms to rent for therapies. Having spoken to the 'Owner' of the place, I had decided not to pursue it. It was my second call to her. The first had ended with her 'snobbily' telling me that she has quite a few therapist offering similar treatments that I am offering, which was fair enough ( I wished she stopped there tho..) but I didn't really appreciate the rest of the conversation.. (better left unsaid!). Needless to say, I politely terminated the conversation as soon as I could. As I live in Belper, I frequently pass by her centre. I would often stop by to see her leaflet stand which had declining leaflet about her therapists at an alarming rate. So, feeling cheeky I decided to check up on her previously advertisement in rent and found it was still going. I rang ( of course) and spoke to Madam again, she was keen this time for me to meet up with her. I politely asked about rental etc and found that she wanted nearly half of my earnings (whether if she booked the clients for me or if it was my own sourced clients + rent)!!! That was ok by me to continue with the conversation till she asked me :

- What was my expectations from her and her centre -> to which I replied, NONE, I just wanted to find out if it was viable for me to rent a room from her!

-What was my expectations of myself and how I was going develop myself over the next few months -at this point I thought, why am I having this conversation with her when I have repeatedly told her I had achieved more and beyond what I expected! And I have more CPD points as a Therapist, and not  having to do anymore for the next 5 years! My aims were and still is to recoup the money spent on all my courses!!!

So I decided to end the conversation politely by telling her I will be in touch if I am still interested. But, she told me that she was interested and could I please submit it in writing the reasons I want to rent a room and to also include the answers to the 2 questions above and when can I meet up with her to discuss the starting date! Well, I was a bit gobsmacked at that AND I haven't contacted her since! The centre is still there, no new therapist added.....

I now am happy to say that I have a Saturday clinic at Cromford when I have enough clients booked in, it is an osteopath Centre and the owner of the place is really nice. Rent is reasonable.  There is no pressure for me to go every Saturday. I haven't had to write any letters or answer any silly questions. Jo will refer client to me and likewise I will do the same...The cost of setting up there is more that what I had expected but I think of it as an investment. I am also looking into a room rental in Derby so
In the meantime, I am also looking of ways of generating income into the household.. I am dabbling in Jewelleries, hoping to sell when I have enough stock.. please see my other blog on dibble dabble...

I will be looking at doing leaflet drops and contacting a few people on advertisement.
